Review: My issei mother has lived at Nikkei Senior Garden (NSG) for the last 7 years. I didn’t fully appreciate NSG until my mother had a fall, fracturing her pelvis. She was in a skilled nursing facility for two weeks and I was not happy with the care she was receiving there. So, I moved her back home to NSG. The Executive Director worked closely with me and helped me with this decision and my mother’s move back to NSG.When she returned home, she was welcomed by everyone - staff and other residents. This greatly lifted her spirits. Before her accident, she participated in the many activities such as exercises and bingo in the morning followed by art projects or games in the afternoon. This had become part of her routine and she was eager to return to it.She was able to make a very good recovery with the help of NSG staff and private caregivers. The NSG staff are wonderful. They are cheerful and want to help. NSG is very well run. It is very clean and the meals are varied and delicious. When my mom’s microwave oven broke down recently, it was replaced right away. All the major holidays are celebrated. I am very grateful for NSG and the healthy and fun environment it provides for my mom!
