Review: I was quite impressed with Carefield in Castro Valley. Parveen Singh, Senior Director, gave us an excellent personal tour for our large family of 9 on her day off. The place was clean, friendly staff (many have worked there for over a decade) and willing to accomodate a special diet needed for our family member. We ended up at a different senior living community where our loved one knew several residents. Still, I wanted to commend Carefield as I felt it was a wonderful "family" environment.

Review: I cannot imagine a better place for my 85-year-old mother. Sixteen months ago my siblings and I moved her into Carefield Castro Valley. She was struggling with mild dementia that has slowly worsened. I live nearby and visit my mom 2-3 times a week. The attendants have been unfailingly kind and friendly with my mom, even when they have no idea that I am in the vicinity and can observe their actions. She is treated as a real person--with dignity and with gentleness and with sweetness. Carefield has been an immense blessing throughout my mom's care.

Review: My parents moved to Eden Villa Assisted Living in May of 2014. I have found the facility to be well run and managed and the staff to be kind and caring and attentive to the needs of residents. The nursing staff does a good job of providing necessary medications, attending to the medical needs of the residents and advising us of any particular problems. The handyman is excellent at helping with whatever issues might arise, and the front desk receptionist is kind and helpful and does a very good job. The staff provides lots of activities and entertainment for the residents and very nice meals three times a day and snacks. The facility also regularly sponsors dining in parties on holidays and special events which are fun to attend. My sister and I have always felt welcome when visiting and the management and staff have always been responsive to our needs and requests. My father recently passed away and we are grateful for the kind and loving support the facility provided to him and to us. My mother continues to reside there and the management and staff have been wonderful in providing her the support and assistance she needs. I certainly recommend that you consider Eden Villa as an assisted living facility.

Review: I recently tried to moved my 85 year old sister who is suffering from memory loss to this facility. Previously, I toured this care center and spoke with five current residences. How are they treated? Do they get enough to eat, and are the prepared meals good? All spoke of excellent treatment, and how nice the staff is. The food quality is excellent, and if anything, it's too much. Two residences told me that that have to ask for smaller portions. One residence told me the food was good most of the time with occasional so so meals. The first time I tried to move my sister into this facility, she cancelled the contract after two days. Two weeks later, she wrote a check for the first month rent only to put a stop order on it the next day. My sister has a see/saw mind, and I believe that she is suffering from dementia. One minute she realizes she needs help, and the next hour she back to believing that she can live alone. It has been a long difficult emotional draining experiences for me trying to help her.During all this time, the staff was excellent in their patience dealing with my crazy sister. We were finally able to move her in, and she immediately wanted out. She admitted that she was homesick. The staff explained that it takes around five weeks for dementia patients to adjust to their new surroundings. So far I am quite happy with this facility and the care that my sister is receiving. We shared a lunch meal the following day that was delicious. With food this good, I want to move myself in.Kristy (sp), the greeting host when you first enter this facility has an excellent scent of humor and is very helpful.Yours,Roy Bostick
